I'm an Associate Cooperative Extension Specialist focused on the development of integrated pest management practices for orchards and vineyards. My lab is based near Fresno at the UC Kearney Agricultural Research and Extension Center. Current studies include cover crops, orchard grazing, areawide IPM, automated smart traps, sterile insect technique and biological control. We also do more foundational work on insect systematics, biology, phenology and ecology. In addition to all that, I'm also Founding Director of the UC Organic Agriculture Institute, a new statewide program that facilitates various research, extension and education activities in support of certified, transitioning and aspiring organic farmers.
